After the warm summer holidays I was keen to get back painting to record some of the beautiful waves Ive seen this year in Cornwall. Here the high tide and the late afternoon sun  created an almost perfect beach break.

I wanted to try a stern viewpoint showing the yachts close hauled down to the Beavor Tail off Newport RI.

This painting returns me back to the subject that first induced me to start painting, reading many accounts of Nelson as a boy , id often sketch to recreate the scenes depicted and later I taught myself to paint so I could better depict the scenes.

This painting depicts the 36 gun frigate Euryalus acting as Nelson eyes, watching the port of Cadiz within which the combine fleets of Spain and France sit at anchor awaiting a chance to escape Nelsons blockade.

With all this rain and wind I indulged myself painting a summer  view of Priory Bay Seaview 

Rainbow 1934

Happy New Year to everyone. I've hit the ground running this year completing two yachting paintings. This painting depicts the J Class Yacht Rainbow which successfully defended the 1934 Americas Cup against the J Class Endeavour, in what was a very close contest.

Norseman 1881

Heres a  different view of Norseman which I painted last year. This angle I feel shows the beauty and power of Ogden Goelets great schooner off to good effect. Watch this space for a similar view of the Yacht America currently on the easel.

Im also currently working on a couple of seascapes the first shows the surf at  Praa Sands and the second the beach at Priory Bay Seaview.

Compton Beach holds many great memories, it is the beach on the Isle of Wight that the Islanders use to get away from it all. Its long flat beach is great for kids to paddle and build sand castles. Ive Just completed these 2 waves depicting the Beautiful Emerald Green Surf at Sennen. 

Im very busy at the moment so Im pleased the days are short so Im not tempted to take trips out to the Beach. Im working on a series of small panels 8x6 8x10, that I think will make ideal Christmas Presents. Im also about to start a couple of Schooner paintings destined for America.
